{"id":8173,"date":"2026-02-27T12:47:28","date_gmt":"2026-02-27T11:47:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cim-ecm.es\/blog\/difference-between-implementing-a-platform-and-optimizing-a-way-of-working\/"},"modified":"2026-02-27T12:48:37","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T11:48:37","slug":"difference-between-implementing-a-platform-and-optimizing-a-way-of-working","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cim-ecm.es\/en\/blog\/difference-between-implementing-a-platform-and-optimizing-a-way-of-working\/","title":{"rendered":"Difference between implementing a platform and optimizing a way of working"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In complex corporate environments, document management projects usually start from the IT area.<br\/>And it is logical that this is the case.<\/p>\n\n<p>We are talking about <a href=\"https:\/\/start.docuware.com\/es\/gestor-de-contenidos-empresariales-ecm\">ECM<\/a> platforms, integrations with core systems, security requirements, scalability, regulatory compliance&#8230; All of this lives, and must live, in the technological environment.<\/p>\n\n<p>The problem is not that it starts in IT.<br\/>The problem arises when the project stays there.<\/p>\n\n<p>In many ECM projects we see the same pattern: the solution is technically correct, even robust, but does not optimize the day-to-day work.<\/p>\n\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n\n<p>Because when the business is not aligned from the beginning:<\/p>\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Documentary processes do not match actual operations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Workflows are designed from theory, not from use.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Users do not adopt the tool or use it &#8220;half-heartedly&#8221;.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The system ends up being perceived as a burden, not a help.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p>The result is not usually a technical failure.<br\/>It is somewhat quieter:<\/p>\n\n<p>An underutilized platform that does not generate the expected return.<\/p>\n\n<p>And in document-critical environments, that&#8217;s not just an efficiency issue.<br\/>It&#8217;s also an operational risk.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Document management as a meeting point<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>Projects that really move forward understand a key idea: document management is not an isolated system, it is a meeting point.<\/p>\n\n<p>A meeting point between:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Technology and infrastructure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Actual operating processes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>People who work with documents every day<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>In these projects, IT does not disappear &#8211; quite the contrary.<br\/>But system design is built with the business, not for the business.<\/p>\n\n<p>It analyzes how the system works today (AS IS), not only how it &#8220;should&#8221; work (TO BE).<br\/>The actual friction is understood before the solution is designed.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Technology and operations moving forward together<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>When IT and business move forward in alignment:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Documentary processes reflect operational reality.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adoption is no longer a critical issue.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ECM becomes a lever for efficiency, not just a repository.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Change is perceived as an improvement, not an imposition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>It is at this point that document management begins to provide real value:<\/p>\n\n<p>Less friction.<br\/>More control.<br\/>Better informed decisions.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>A conscious approach<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>This is the approach we apply at <a href=\"https:\/\/cim-ecm.es\/en\/\">CIM<\/a>: understanding document management as a shared space where IT and business move forward together.<\/p>\n\n<p>Because in organizations where the document is critical, implementing technology is not enough.<\/p>\n\n<p>We must optimize the way we work.<br\/>And do so without generating unnecessary friction or risk.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In complex corporate environments, document management projects usually start from the IT area.And it is logical that this is the case.
